The list is written by the writers of Nothing Ever Happens, who are a brilliant bunch of cool weirdos who live in the arts world and know where the cool stuff is at. There is SO MUCH GOOD SHIT GOING ON. So much. And we know where to find it.
Subscription costs a mere tiny $2 a month or Pay what You Feel. We use the money from your subscription to pay our writers. It’s a win-win-win.

We will pay the writers and editorial team. This is our plan to make sure #everyonegetspaid. Sadly this is not the norm in the arts media industry. But it ought to be. So let’s make it so.
At first, nobody got paid. We just used to do it for fun and tickets. And cause we love writing about art. But we wanted to make this viable, and supportive, and financial. So…
The first 125 $1 subscriptions pays for the web-hosting, apps and basic admin costs of this site. We have ALREADY reached this point, where the basic costs are covered. Yes! We covered costs just three weeks after launching the site. Because we have already reached this first trigger point, we are now using a rolling fund for paying writers - every time we reach a reserve, we contract another 10 pieces.
THAT’S RIGHT PEOPLE. Nothing Ever Happens in Brisbane is officially in the green, and is now commissioning and paying writers for reviews and articles.
At the moment this is a modest fee. Our big-picture end-goal is to pay all our writers and reviewers a much more generous fee. Plus, paying our editorial team real wages, supporting this independent project into the future, and and allows us to control what kind of advertising we allow, rebalancing the benefits that support well-funded companies and exclude indie artists, and hurt your eyeballs. We are indie-run and indie-focused, and we wanna keep it that way.
Using this subscription model keeps us totally independent of advertising and influence. Feel free to give us $3, $5 or $10 a month. The faster we grow the faster we pay our writers more $ and more often.

Each month we ask all our writers to contribute up to 5 events that they want to spotlight. Our writers are all working creatives, and we deliberately foster a team of active artists and thought-leaders who are many-gendered, full-spectrum, all-ages, multi-cultural and multi-artform movers and shakers.
Just like you, we are interested in circus, drag, theatre, dance, burlesque, experimental, immersive, works-in-development, underground, one-off, amazing touring & local artists, and so much more besides – all spiced with our love of independent, underground and alternative fabulosity. We are interested in all the things being made, by us, by our friends, by everyone else. We follow the best insta accounts and go to all the alternative festivals.
We compile these events and opportunities into an exclusive email sent only to our subscribers and not published elsewhere online. Sometimes there will be exclusive opening night discounts, free tickets and competitions.
Basically, it’s like we’re your best friend who always knows where the best parties are at, and who’s making the real fresh arts, and we’ll pick you up at 8 so BE READY.
